Howard F. Loomis, Jr., DC, FIACA is a 1968 graduate of Logan Chiropractic College. Dr. Loomis’s postgraduate work highlights an emphasis on sacro-occipital and craniosacral techniques. His resume also includes work in Acupuncture and Spinal Biomechanics. He has also had method training in Thompson, Gonstead, Diversified Technique, Nimmo, and Endo-Nasal.
Dr. Loomis’s interest in nutritional food enzymes began when he had the opportunity to bring the theoretical work of Edward Howell, MD, the food enzyme pioneer, into the clinic. Dr. Loomis spent years in the clinic developing a system for correctly identifying nutritional deficiencies in the body. His system, the Loomis System™, is now recognized as a legitimate and proven method of determining nutritional stresses on the body.
Dr. Loomis has an extensive background in enzymes and enzyme supplements. He is the founder and president of Enzyme Formulations®, Inc. His extensive knowledge of physiology, biochemistry, and enzymology has made him a sought-after speaker and a prolific writer. Dr. Loomis published ENZYMES: The Key to Health in 1999. He also writes regular columns for The Chiropractic Journal and contributes special articles to The American Chiropractor.
As president for over 15 years of 21st Century Nutrition® (now the Loomis Institute™ of Enzyme Nutrition), he has forged a remarkable career as an educator. With his exciting approach to health and wellness, he shows practitioners how diet and digestion can play a role in the prevention of chronic degenerative diseases. He has conducted over 400 seminars in the United States and internationally on the diagnosis and treatment of food enzyme deficiency syndromes.
